Hide Messages on iPhone.

Everyone hopes to have a private space not shared even with their closest connection. Not to cheat anyone, but if we want to keep some messages secret, such as for preparing a surprise or keeping something in deep mind, then we should be able to do it. However, the Messages app doesn’t have the option of locking or hiding text messages, so the texts you send and receive may be seen intentionally or unintentionally. It seems that the only best way to protect private messages from prying eyes is by deleting them. Actually, you don’t have to do that. In this article, we will show you four methods to can hide iPhone messages on both the locked screen and the Message app, and help reduce the chances of someone invading your data privacy.

Part 1. Hide Messages on Locked Screen of iPhone

When someone texts you, you can view the content on the iPhone screen without unlocking the device or opening the Messages app, due to the Show Previews feature. Sure, the text message preview function on the iPhone may be incredibly convenient. But it does pose a challenge to those who place a huge value on data privacy. Thankfully, turning off the text message preview function is an easy way to hide messages on the locked screen of your iPhone. Follow the steps below to switch it off.

  • Unlock your iPhone, go to Settings > Notification, and then scroll down to tap on the Messages.

  • Inside the Messages section, scroll down to the Show Previews option. By default settings, it has already been selected as Always. You have to change that to Never.

This will keep the content of the alert hidden even when your phone is unlocked. You still receive an alert when a message comes but instead of showing the inside content, it will only show iMessage to you.

If needed, you can even turn off the Allow Notifications so that there will be no notification on your iPhone screen when you receive a message. This is extremely useful to those who want to hide text messages on iPhone from girlfriend. But then you can’t reply to the text in time.

Part 2. Set Time Limit for Messages App

Disabling the Show Previews feature for messages is only to hide your iPhone text messages from being seen on the locked screen. When you lend your iPhone to someone, how do you make sure they won’t read your texts inside the Messages app? It’s not that hard to do, as long as set a time limit for the Messages application. Here are the steps.

  • Step 1: Navigate to Settings > Screen Time, and tap on Turn On Screen Time.
  • Step 2: Tap Continue on the screen, then choose This is My iPhone.
Set Time Limit for Messages App.
  • Step 3: Click Use Screen Time Passcode to set a four-digit screen time passcode (If you’ve turned on Screen Time and set a passcode before, you can skip the previous 3 steps).
Set Time Limit for Messages App.
  • Step 4: Then select App Limits. Tap on Add Limit again, click on Social Networking and choose Messages. Then click Next.
Set Time Limit for Messages App.
  • Step 5: Customize the Time and Days of limit to one min and every day, keep the Block at End of Limit turned on, and then click Add.
  • Step 6: Turn to the Messages app, wait for 5 minutes, then you will get an alert that you’ve reached your time limit on the Messages app.
  • Step 7: Tap Ask For More Time, choose One more minute, and then wait for another minute until you receive the alert again. This time you need to enter the screen time passcode if you want to access the messages.
Set Time Limit for Messages App.

Setting a time limit for the Messages app before you lend the iPhone to someone is a flexible way to lock and hide messages on your iPhone from prying eyes.

Note:

  1. Please stay in the Messages app when waiting for the alert of the end of time limit.
  2. The time limit is refreshed once a day, that is, you can get one minute for accessing messages every day. So it can’t completely eliminate the chance for others to read your text messages.

Part 3. Lock and Hide Text Messages in Notes App

There is another way to hide your messages on the iPhone. You can put your text messages into the Notes app and lock them there. Just create a new note in the Notes app, copy and paste the texts to the note, then lock it. If you want to keep the sender, date and time, you can take a screenshot of the text messages, share the screenshot to a note and lock it there. However, if you want to hide multiple messages, this method can be a bit time-consuming.

To lock a note, simply swipe it from right to left and tap the lock icon in the menu, then set a passcode for the locked note. You can also use the Touch ID or Face ID to lock and unlock the note. Don’t forget to delete your texts from the Messages app after you lock them in the Notes app.

Part 4. Use Third-Party Apps to Hide Messages on iPhone

Another strategy to prevent others from accessing your messages is using a third-party app. We have prepared for you the 5 best apps in this section which can help you hide messages on the iPhone.

1. Shady Contacts

Shady Contacts is one of the most trusted messaging security apps right now. Not only does it hide your messages, but it also keeps your call log and records secure. When the iPhone is not used for a few minutes, the app automatically locks it. You will not be able to access it unless you draw the correct pattern. Shady Contacts has a user-friendly interface. However, its inefficiency in handling large data is a major limitation.

2. Hide SMS

Hide SMS delivers what its name promises by setting up a PIN that you need to enter before you can access messages. While it is not compatible with a few Android devices, iPhone users can enjoy the efficiency that it brings. Hide SMS also has an unlimited storage space even if the app is free.

3. Vault

Vault may be a small app but with a number of features. It can easily hide messages on your iPhone as well as the calls and private contacts. Think of it as an actual vault that you can only open with a key. It is just that the key, in this case, is a password. Premium users will also be able to lock certain apps. One major downside is that it may slow down the device due to the level of encryption it offers.

4. Block SMS and Call

Block SMS and Call not only hides important messages, but it also blocks calls and texts that are not important. Block SMS and Call has six major modes. One of these modes is Phone In Other Hand. If you disable this mode, only the calls that you have blacklisted on your iPhone will be concealed.

5. Private Message Box

Private Message Box is a popular iPhone app for hiding text messages for many users. Apart from hiding messages, it also automatically hides the incoming and outgoing messages of the iPhone. It’s easy to use to keep user’s conversation secret. All your conversations with your contacts are fully secured and safe. It also provides an extra feature to send messages between app users without any charge. You just have to sign in with your number and then you are all done. You can send an unlimited number of texts, photos, media files, and location details to another user who is also using this app.

Conclusion

In this article, we learnt 4 ways to hide and lock iPhone messages on the lock screen and the app. By following the guide above, you can even set a time limit for accessing Message app by anyone. These methods will effectively limit the chance of the messages on your iPhone to be viewed by other parties. This will further protect your data against other third-party elements. “How can I lock certain apps on iPhone?” If you hold such a question in mind, then this article is for you.

Lock Apps on iPhone.

You may not mind lending your iPhone to someone else, but you certainly don’t want that person to see your private information or change your settings in some apps. However, Apple doesn’t provide a feature to set the password lock for a single iPhone app. Don’t be disappointed. Here you will discover 4 workarounds that can lock apps on your iPhone and make them inaccessible without passcode.

Method 1: Hide Apps from the Home Screen

Both this method and the second method require the use of the “Screen Time” feature which was introduced in iOS 12. It lets you not only track how your device is used but also set limits for your apps. Let’s first take a look at how to lock an app through “Screen Time” so that it doesn’t show up on the Home screen.

  • Step 1: Go to Settings > Screen Time. If you haven’t enabled Screen Time, tap “Turn On Screen Time” and follow the onscreen instructions to activate it.
  • Step 2: Then tap on “Content & Privacy Restrictions”. Turn on the toggle of “Content & Privacy Restrictions” if it is turned off. You may need to enter your screen time passcode if you have set one.
  • Step 3: Select “Allowed Apps” and enter your screen time passcode if asked.
  • Step 4: Switch off the toggle of the apps you don’t want to use.
Hide Apps from the Home Screen.
  • Step 5: Go back to the Home screen and you will find these apps are not accessible there.
  • Step 6: If you want to access these apps, you need to return to the “Content & Privacy Restriction” and enter your screen time passcode.

Method 2: Set Time Limit to Password Lock Apps

When you set a time limit for an app using “Screen Time”, you will be locked out of that app once the time is up. As a result, it has the same effect as locking an app on iPhone with a password. We also mentioned this method in a previous article on how to hide messages on iPhone, you can take a look at that article if you are interested.

  • Navigate to Settings > Screen Time. Turn on Screen Time, and then tap “Use Screen Time Passcode” to set a passcode to protect your Screen Time settings and allow more time when limits end. If you set it up before, you can skip this step.
  • Choose “App Limits” from the Screen Time page, then tap “Add Limit” and enter your screen time passcode.
  • You will see different app categories like Social Networking, Games, Productivity, or the other. Choose the apps you want to lock accordingly and click “Next”.
  • Set the accessing time limit for the app you don’t want to use as “1 min, Every Day”, if you need to lock it right now. Then click “Add”. Now you will receive a Time Check notification saying “5 minutes remaining for [app name] today”.
Set Time Limit to Password Lock Apps.
  • Turn to that app and stay there for 5 minutes until you receive an alert that you’ve reached your time limit on the app. Your app won’t be blocked immediately, because you still have one minute to access the app without the password.
  • Select “Ask For More Time” > One more minute. Wait for another minute and you will receive the time limit again. This time, you are required to enter your screen time passcode to access the app.

Method 3: Lock Down a Single App on iPhone

If you want to restrict the access to only one app, you can use “Guided Access” and control which features are available within that app. It is useful when

  • Step 1: Go to Settings > Accessibility > Guided Access, then turn on the toggle switch for Guided Access.
  • Step 2: Tap “Passcode Settings” and select “Set Guided Access Passcode”. Enter your passcode and reenter it. You may also turn on the Touch ID or Face ID and use them to end Guided Access.
  • Step 3: Open the app that you want to lock. On iPhone 8 or earlier, triple-click the Home button; on iPhone X or later, triple-click the Side button. This will activate the Guided Access start screen.
  • Step 4: Use your finger to circle the parts of your screen that you want to disable, then tap “Start”.
  • Step 5: To disable some features like sleep/wake button and keyboard, or set a time limit for the Guided Access, tap “Options” in the lower-left corner to access these options. If you don’t see “Options”, triple-click the Home or Side button and enter your passcode.
Lock Down a Single App on iPhone
  • Step 6: If you want to end a Guided Access session, triple-click the Home or Side button, enter your passcode and then tap “End”.

Method 4: Use Third-Party App Lock for iPhone

If you are not satisfied with the previous methods, you can consider using a third-party app instead, like App Locker or BioProtect. Not only can such tools lock apps on your iPhone, but they can lock certain settings, files, folders, and more.

Most of these third-party apps are downloaded from Cydia’s repository, which means you have to make jailbreaking of your iPhone if you want to use them. iOS jailbreaking bypasses the built-in security features of iOS and can cause issues of the security, privacy, and stability of your device. Moreover, iOS jailbreaking is a violation of the iOS-end user software license, so you won’t get service from Apple for your jailbroken iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

Download iTunes Backup Extractor Download iTunes Backup Extractor for mac

If you decide to perform a jailbreak, please backup your iPhone in case of any data loss. Besides iTunes and iCloud, you can also use an iPhone Manager software that allows you to create an iPhone backup, archive old iTunes backups, and extracts data from backup files.

Conclusion

You can lock apps on your iPhone by following solutions in this article. The previous three methods don’t passcode lock your apps directly, but they can have the same effect. Using a third-party tool does allow you to lock apps on your iPhone with the password, but it requires iOS jailbreaking. You can choose the option that suits you best.

How to Unlock Disabled iPhone

If you are reading this article, you probably have received an alert like “iPhone is disabled” on the screen because you or someone else who tries to access your data has entered the wrong password too many times. And you are eager to know how to unlock your disabled iPhone. If that’s the case, you’ve come to the right place.

Some users will take their deactivated iPhone to an Apple Store or Apple Authorized Service Provider for the fix. Actually, there’s no need to bother. With iTunes, you can easily undisable an iPhone easily by yourself. You can also implement iPhone disabled fix without iTunes. In this post, we will discuss several ways on how to unlock a disabled iPhone.

Part 1. Save Data on Disabled iPhone Before Unlocking

Considering the information and privacy security of users, Apple has adopted such a device locking mechanism for the iPhone. When you are locked out of an iPhone, there’s no way to bypass the passcode. You’ll need to erase your device to remove the passcode, which also deletes all of your data and settings.

Download iPhone Data Recovery software for Windows Download iPhone/iPad Data Recovery software for Mac

If you want to save important iPhone data like contacts, messages, notes and so on, you can always use Jihosoft iPhone Data Recovery to recover data from your locked/disabled iPhone before restoring. It also allows you to view details in the iPhone backup you have and extract what you need selectively.

Part 2. Unlock Disabled iPhone without iTunes (iCloud Way)

Generally, to unlock a disabled/locked iPhone, you will need iTunes. But there’re cases that your iPhone is disabled to connect to iTunes or you just don’t have iTunes available. In such cases, there’re still ways to unlock your iPhone; and in this part, we will talk about how to use iCloud to unlock your iPhone.

  1. Use a different device like a computer to access iCloud.com.
  2. Sign in with your Apple ID you set up on the locked iPhone.
  3. Tap on “Find iPhone” > “All Devices” > “[Your iPhone’s name]” and you will get to see your device.
  4. Click on the “Erase iPhone” option, then click “Erase” to confirm. You are required to enter your Apple ID passcode instead of your device passcode.
  5. After this process is done, all your content including your passcode will be removed from the device, and then you can freely access your iPhone again.
Unlock Disabled iPhone without iTunes (iCloud Way)

When you follow this method, you will receive a data-erasing warning when you click on the “Erase” button provided by the iCloud Find iPhone feature, which mean you will completely lose all the current data from your locked iPhone, unless you have a backup in advance. So before proceeding with this process, make sure that you have a backup with iTunes or iCloud.

Part 3. Unlock Disabled iPhone with iTunes (without iCloud)

After your iPhone gets disabled or locked, basically, you need to connect the iPhone or iPad to the previously authorized computer and then go through iTunes to unlock the device. If you can’t use iTunes to restore your iPhone and don’t have the Find My iPhone enabled on your device, you need to use Recovery Mode which allows you to reset your iPhone on a computer that has never been connected to your device.

This process will wipe out the data present in the iPhone entirely, so you’d better have a backup on iTunes or iCloud for later restoring.

  1. Disconnect your iPhone from the computer if it is connected. And make sure iTunes is closed.
  2. Put your iPhone into the recovery mode by following the appropriate steps below according to your phone model:
    • On iPhone 8 or later: Press and hold the Side button and either volume button until you see the power off slider. Drag the slider to turn off your device. Then connect your iPhone to the computer via a USB cable. Press and hold the Side button until the recovery mode screen appears.
    • On iPhone 7/7 Plus: Press and hold the Side button until you see the power off slider. Drag the slider to turn off your device. Then connect your iPhone to the computer via a USB cable. Press and hold the Volume down button until the recovery mode appears.
    • On iPhone 6s or earlier: Press and hold the Side button until you see the power off slider. Drag the slider to turn off your device. Then connect your iPhone to the computer via a USB cable. Press and hold the Home button until the recovery mode screen appears.
  3. After that, the iTunes/Finder window will pop open on your computer. And you can see the “Update” and “Restore” option. Choose the “Restore” option.
  4. Wait for the restore process to be completed. Then your disabled iPhone will be unlocked and you can use your device again.
Unlock Disabled iPhone with iTunes (without iCloud)

Part 4. Unlock Disabled iPhone without Computer (Siri Way)

Both of the above-mentioned methods require the use of the computer. You can also use Siri to unlock your disabled iPhone, another useful method without using iTunes or a computer. This solution is actually considered as a bug of the iOS 8 to iOS 11. To use this process, just follow these steps.

  1. Press and hold the Home button to launch Siri and say anything to make it show you the time or open the clock.
  2. After it gives the answer, just tap on the Clock icon shown in the dialogue.
  3. Afterwards, you will be guided to the Clock app, then click on World Clock to add another clock.
  4. Type anything in the city search bar, tap on the “Select All” option and then choose the “Share” option.
  5. Click the “Messages” icon to continue and type anything in the “To” filed.
  6. Press the return key on the keyboard and tap the “+” icon to “Create New Contact”.
  7. On the New Contact screen, tap on “add photo” > “Choose Photo” and you can reach the Photo Library.
  8. Just hit the Home button, then you will be back to the home screen and the iPhone is already unlocked.
Unlock Disabled iPhone without Computer (Siri Way)

You may also try other commands with Siri, like opening the Calendars app or the Contacts app. In this way, you will not need to restore your iPhone, which avoids losing data especially when you don’t have any backup. But this method doesn’t necessarily work because it only works from iOS 8 to iOS 11, and you have to repeat the steps above every time you want to access the device.

Conclusion:

We have listed several best ways to unlock your disabled iPhone without requiring a passcode. These processes might help you unlock the iOS device from iPhone 4/4S/5S to the latest iPhone 11/11 Pro series. You can choose the best and preferable one accordingly to better suit your condition. By the way, please always remember to backup your iPhone regularly in case of the data loss caused by something like a disabled iPhone. If you have any questions or suggestions, welcome to share your idea below; or share this article with friends and other iPhone buddies to help them with these important methods.

Take Professional Photos with iPhone.

People like to take photos with iPhone because of its portability and ever-upgraded camera features. But you may find that the pictures you take are not as good as those taken by others. It’s probably because you don’t know how to use some good photo taking skills yet. This article will show you how to take good photos with iPhone using 9 easy photography tips.

1.Shoot from Different Angles

Shooting from different angles will allow your pictures taken with the iPhone to be significantly more professional. Taking selfies or pictures of the beach at the same angle over and over again will only make your pictures look like every other iPhone photo.

Shooting from different angles will allow your pictures taken with the iPhone to be significantly more professional.

Consider using abstract photography angles, lower or higher angles, and aesthetically pleasing angles. Abstract angles might cause your photo to appear in a way that they’re left to interpretation. Something that is always good to achieve for a photo.

Lower or higher angles will demonstrate a look that isn’t normally seen by the human eye, which is definitely a way to make your photos stand out from the rest of the crowd.

Aesthetically pleasing angles have to do with parallelism, color, and other aesthetics that are appealing to the human eye. Be on the lookout for these kinds of angles. They are meaningful to people who are wondering how to take professional pictures with iPhone.

2. Keep Your Pictures Simple

Keeping your pictures simple is part of the key to taking professional pictures with your iPhone. You might think that taking professional photos means they have to be complicated and filled with subjects, but the reality is that the more simple a photo is, the better it tends to be.

Keeping your pictures simple is part of the key to taking professional pictures with your iPhone.

If you look to overly complicating your iPhone photos for the sole reason to complicate them and have an abstract photo, then you’re not creating the photos to the best of your ability.

Don’t worry too much about filling your photo with a ton of nonsense that isn’t worth adding. Determine what your shooting, execute it the best way possible, and you’ll have a finished iPhone photo.

3. Look for Contrast

No matter the level of photography you’re at, it’s very important to look for contrast. Looking for a striking contrast in your photos will propel your photography to the next level.

For iPhone photography, look for areas of conflicting colors and utilize them to your advantage. Photos filled with rich contrast will demonstrate great appeal to people who will view your photo.

If you’re still confused about how to find contrast in your photos, think about the range of color in your photo. Determine the colors that stick out the most and how they fulfill the photo. Not only is this point one of the iPhone photography tips, but it’s a general photography tip as well.

4. Turn on Camera Grid

Other than what to specifically look for in your photos, it’s always a good idea to utilize the camera grid on your iPhone. Turning on your camera grid will help you make sure your shot is straight, even, and how you want it to look.

To turn on the camera grid, go to Settings on your iPhone, down to the Camera icon, and turn the Grid on. Then, once you go back into your camera, you will notice a grid over your camera.

This grid won’t pop up in the actual photo, it’s just one of the iPhone camera’s features to help you take great pictures.

To turn on the camera grid, go to Settings on your iPhone, down to the Camera icon, and turn the Grid on.

5. Follow the Rule of Thirds

Whenever someone gets into photography, at some point they’re going to hear about the rule of thirds. It is a general guideline for having the main subject of your photo roughly a third of the way into your picture.

Generally speaking, having your subject directly in the middle of your shot is unpleasant and demonstrates a major difference between professional and amateur photographers.

To follow the rule of thirds with your iPhone, take a look at the main subject of your shot, line it up on one of the thirds highlighted by your grid and take the shot. Double-check to make sure it looks okay, and if it does, you’re following the rule of thirds.

Professional photographs follow the rule of thirds for a lot of their shots, which is why you can do the same with your shots.

6. Use Portrait Mode

Most people who get into iPhone photography might think that using landscape mode is the way you should take your photos. The truth is, portrait mode is the best option for photography.

For those of you who don’t know, portrait mode is the normal vertical way of holding an iPhone while taking a photo. Whereas landscape mode is when you hold an iPhone horizontally as a rectangle.

Most people think that landscape mode is a better option since it gets more of the shot in it, but the reality is that the camera on an iPhone was designed for portrait mode. Shooting in portrait mode will be of higher quality and will produce better-looking photos.

It might seem odd at first, but a few steps backward and you’ll be able to take that large depth of field you would’ve gotten in landscape mode.

7. Use HDR Mode

Something a lot of iPhone users might not know is that you can change the quality of the photos you take. Meaning that the initial settings of your camera aren’t on the highest possible quality it can be on. To help with the overall quality of your photos, turn HDR (High Dynamic Range) mode on.

To turn on HDR mode, open Camera app on your iPhone, then tap on the HDR button in the top-left corner. Choose the “On” option. Then you’ll notice a change in quality for your photos, especially when you are capturing a high-contrast scene.

You may also choose the “Auto” option so that your iPhone will determine when to use HDR. But if you want to take more professional photos with iPhone, it is better to disable the Auto option.

8. Use Burst Mode

With a regular camera, photographers will take a burst of shots at their subject to make sure they got the exact shot they intended to get. Why wouldn’t you do the same thing with your own iPhone photography?

To utilize burst mode, you can do this by either pressing and holding the shutter or volume button. Once you do this, you’ll notice the camera firing off a burst of photos.

Hold either the shutter button or volume button until you think you took enough photos. To review and select a photo from your burst of photos, go to Photos, tap on Select, scroll through and tap the photos you want to keep.

Once you’re all set, tap Done and choose whether you’d like to keep the photos you selected or all of them. It’s as easy as that and just another great tool that is a part of how to take good photos with iPhone.

9.Edit Your Photos with Filter

Another component professional photographers utilize is the post-processing software they use on their photos once they’ve taken a shot they like.

If professional photographers use Lightroom or Photoshop to enhance their photos, why shouldn’t you utilize different filters to enhance your photos?

However, keep in mind to not overedit your photos. Overediting is a major issue amateur photographers have, so for the most part, remember to only compliment the picture and not overdo it.
