Print Text Messages from iPhone.

“I have a court case and really need to print some texts on my iPhone. Is this possible? How can I do this?”

This is a typical case where you need to print text messages from iPhone. Although there are numerous messaging apps for iPhone now, still people use the native Messages app to communicate with their family, friends, colleagues, and clients, etc. Some valuable text conversations often need to be backed up and sometimes printed to paper for preservation or as evidence.

However, Apple has added many fun features to the Messages app, but there is no printing. So you need to take some workarounds to print text messages from iPhone. Now read this article to find them out and try them.

Note: When you are printing iPhone messages for a court case or other legal purposes, please consult a legal professional and confirm the specific requirements for printing.

1. Print iPhone Text Messages from Notes App

If you only want to keep the text of your conversations and don’t care about the details of the time, date, and sender, you can copy and paste the text into another app that supports printing, and then print it out. Such apps include Notes, Mails, Reminders and so on.

  • Open a conversation from your Messages app. Tap and hold a message that you want to print until the “Copy/More” menu appears, and then choose “Copy”.
  • Turn to the Notes app on your iPhone and create a new note.
  • Paste the copied text into the note, tap the Share icon in the upper-right corner, scroll down and tap “Print”.

  • Select a printer and start printing.

This is a simple and convenient approach, but the text printed out using it cannot be used as evidence in court.

2. Print Out Text Message Screenshots from iPhone

To print text messages from iPhone for court, you need to print them in an unequivocal format, along with the date and time, as well as details of the sender and receiver. It is a great option to take a screenshot of your message text and then print it out. Nevertheless, when you have a mass of text messages to print, you’d better consider a different approach.

  • Step 1: Open the Messages app on your iPhone and locate the conversation you need.
  • Step 2: Take a screenshot of the texts you want to print.
    • On iPhone X or later: Press the Side button and the Volume Up button at the same time and then quickly release them.
    • On iPhone 8 or earlier: Press the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button at the same time and then quickly release them.
  • Step 3: Tap on the thumbnail in the lower-left corner of your screen.
  • Step 4: Tap the Share icon in the upper-right corner and select “Print”.
  • Step 5: Select a printer, customize the number of copies you want, and tap “Print” to confirm.

3. Use Third-Party Software to Print iPhone Text Conversations

It’s not difficult to print one or two text messages using the previous two methods, but using them to print a large number of text messages is no small challenge. At this point, you need to turn to a tool that can help you export and print your entire text conversations together with the contact, time, date, and other information at once.

Here we will show you a program called Jihosoft iPhone Data Recover. This is a professional software dedicated to iOS data recovery. And it is also an excellent data transfer tool that works perfectly to import your messages from iPhone to the computer as readable formats like TXT and HTML. So that you can print iPhone text messages from the computer in the format you need. The supported iPhone modes range from 4S to the latest 11 series.

4. Ask Phone Service Provider for a Copy of Text Messages

This method doesn’t always work but you can give it a shot. In order to protect the privacy of the sender and receiver of the text message, the phone service provider will generally refuse your request unless you can give a good reason or present a legal document from the court. Thus, you are not recommended to use this method when you just want a backup of your text messages.

Conclusion
The above are four ways to print text messages from iPhone. Which method you choose depends on your purpose of printing the text (for court cases or backups) and the number of messages to print. We hope this article is helpful to you. If you have any other better approach to print iPhone text messages, please share it with us.

“I had a very long speech written out in the Note app on my iPad and it somehow got deleted and I desperately need it back. I didn’t have it backed up on iTunes or iCloud. Is there any other way to get it back?”

Have you ever stuck in a similar situation: The important note on your iPad was accidentally deleted and you desperately need it. Sometimes you may also find suddenly your iPad notes disappeared. Is there any way to recover deleted notes from the iPad or get back the lost notes? Here we will show you some methods for iPad notes recovery.

1.Check the Recently Deleted Folder for Deleted Notes

The notes you delete in iPad’s Notes app won’t be wiped clean immediately. Instead, they will be moved into a Recently Deleted folder and stored there for about 30 days before they are permanently removed. So you are likely to recover your accidentally deleted notes from the Recently Deleted folder.

  • Open the Notes app, tap the left corner Back icon until you reach the Folders list page.
  • Tap on the Recently Deleted folder and search for your deleted note.
  • Once you find the note you need, press and hold it, then choose Move from the popup menu to restore your note to any folder.
Check the Recently Deleted Folder for Deleted Notes.

If you have to get back a bunch of deleted notes, you can tap Edit icon in right corner, select the notes you need, then tap Move to and select any folder you like.

Another case is that you use notes with another service like Gmail or Yahoo. Then the note you delete from the Notes app will usually be kept in the Trash folder of that account. You can check the Trash folder of your third-party account in the Mail app. Once you find the deleted note there, copy and paste the note to the Notes app.

2.Get Back Disappeared iPad Notes via Account Settings

If you have synced the Notes app to some cloud services like iCloud, Gmail, or Yahoo, your iPad notes can be disappeared when you change the sync settings. Thus, you might as well check your account settings to see if you can recover the lost notes.

  • Step 1. Go to Settings > Password & Accounts.
  • Step 2. Tap on iCloud or other email account you want to check. If you choose iCloud account, you will enter the Apple ID screen, just tap iCloud in that screen.
  • Step 3. Make sure Notes is toggled on. If it isn’t, toggle it on and see if your missing notes appear in the Notes app.
Get Back Disappeared iPad Notes via Account Settings.

3.Retrieve Deleted Notes on iPad without Backup

If you fail to recover the deleted notes on your iPad with the approaches above and happen to have no backup available, then you can try some third-party iOS data recovery software to retrieve your deleted iPad notes without backup. With so many good and bad data recovery apps on the market, Jihosoft iPhone Data Recovery is a good recommendation for you.

  • Step 2. Connect your iPad to the computer with a USB cable.
  • Step 3. When you device appears in the Finder window or iTunes, click it.

  • Step 5. Choose a backup that is most likely to contain your deleted notes.
  • Step 6. Click Restore to confirm. Keep your iPad connected until it finishes the sync with your computer.
Recover Deleted/Lost Notes on iPad from iTunes Backup

As you can see, you have to restore the whole backup to your iPad and the existing data on your device will be overwritten by the old data in the backup file. Moreover, you never know whether the iTunes backup contains the missing notes you need, so you may end up losing more data.

If you have newly added some valued data which are not backed up yet and don’t want them to be replaced by the contents inside your old backup. Then you might as well use Jihosoft iPhone Data Recovery to help you access, view, and extract the missing notes from your iTunes backup selectively.

Recover Deleted Text Messages on iPhone

“I deleted all my text messages on my iPhone 8, but I didn’t mean to! Is there any way to recover deleted messages on iPhone even if I have no backup? Thanks!” — Lucy

If you often use your iPhone to send or receive messages, you are likely to encounter the problem that you accidentally deleted the text messages on iPhone and have no backup for them. In fact, apart from accidental deletion, your text messages may also be lost due to iOS update or jailbreak failure, broken device, stolen or lost device, etc. Text messages may be not used as frequently as before, but sometimes they are still crucial. Thus, you would be eager to recover deleted text messages on iPhone without backup when you realized this mistake. Don’t worry, this article tells you four ways to retrieve deleted text messages on iPhone 11/11 Pro/Xr/Xs/X/8/7/6 whether you have a backup or not.

Part 1. Recover Deleted iPhone Text Messages without Backup

1. Is deleted iPhone texts recoverable with no backup

Well, it is possible to get back the deleted data on your phone even without backup. iPhone has a built-in database dedicated to storing various data including your text messages. When you accidentally delete some messages, they won’t disappear from your device immediately, but stay in some corner of the database, until the newly-generated data overwrites them. This process doesn’t take a long time. So you still have the chance to extract and retrieve deleted iPhone texts from the database with some third-party data recovery tools, before they are overwritten.

However, once these text messages are covered, there is nothing can be done even with the best data recovery tool. Thus, we recommend you to turn on the Airplane Mode instantly after deleting the text messages and stop using the iPhone, then use the data recovery software as soon as possible.

2. A reliable tool to Retrieve deleted iPhone texts without backup

You can easily find multifarious third-party apps for data recovery on Google or other browsers. What we mention here is a professional and easy-to-use one called Jihosoft iPhone Data Recovery.

Download iPhone/iPad/iPod Data Recovery software for Windows Download iPhone Data Recovery software for Mac

It offers three recovery modes. You can retrieve deleted text messages directly from an iOS device or from an iTunes/iCloud backup. The recovered messages include not only texts but also the details of date, sender and attachments. Besides text messages, the program also helps recover deleted contacts, notes, safari bookmarks, WhatsApp, voice memos, and many more on your iOS devices. If you lost some important text messages on iPhone, you may give it a try.

Here are steps to recover deleted text messages from iPhone without backup:

Step 1: Launch Jihosoft iPhone Data Recovery

Download and install the right version of this program on your PC or Mac, then open it.

Step 2: Scan the device for deleted data

Connect your iPhone to the computer via a USB cable. When your device is detected, click the “Start Scan” button and the program will begin a thorough scan for the lost data.

Step 3: Recover what you want

After the scan, all the recoverable data will be displayed in categories for you to preview. If you find the deleted text messages, check “Messages” & “Messages Attachments” and click “Recover” to extract them to the computer.

Part 2. Retrieve Deleted Text Messages on iPhone from Backup

1. Get Back Deleted iPhone Messages from iTunes Backup

If you have backed up your data with iTunes before, you can recover deleted text messages on iPhone from an old iTunes backup. The official way is to restore your iPhone from the backup. By doing so, the current data on your device will be replaced by backup contents completely. Worse still, you cannot know if the old backup contains the deleted messages you need, which means you may end up losing more data. Luckily, you can use the iPhone Recovery tool to preview and extract your deleted texts from the backup.

See how to retrieve deleted iPhone texts from iTunes backup.

  • Step 1: Open the iPhone Recovery software on your computer and select “View iTunes Backup”. Then you can see a list of available iTunes backup files.
  • Step 2: Pick out a backup that may contain the messages you need and click the “Start Scan” button to scan the backup.
Get Back Deleted iPhone Messages from iTunes Backup
  • Step 3: When it finishes scanning, click “Messages” & “Messages Attachments” to preview all the messages inside your backup. If you find the deleted text messages, click the “Recover” button to export them to the computer; if not, go back and repeat the previous two steps to check other backups

The recovered text messages are stored on the computer. You may want these messages to get back to your phone, then you can try restoring the whole backup to the device. To avoid any data loss, here’s a tip for you. You can download the free trial of Jihosoft iPhone Recovery to check if the old iTunes backup includes the messages you need beforehand.

2. Restore Deleted iPhone Messages from iCloud Backup

The chances are that you backed up your iPhone to iCloud instead of iTunes. Things will be much easier if so. You can recover deleted text messages on iPhone without a computer and Lighting cable. But similar to retrieving messages from an iTunes backup, you need to wipe the existing iPhone data clean and restore the iCloud backup to your device. Here are the detailed steps.

  • Open the Settings app on your iPhone and go to General > Reset.
  • Tap on “Erase All Content and Settings” and choose “Erase Now”. Don’t tap “Back Then Erase”, or your backup will be updated and you won’t be able to recover the deleted text messages.
  • When your device restarts as a new device, follow the onscreen instructions to reach the App & Data page.
  • On the App & Data screen, select “Restore from iCloud backup”, then sign in to iCloud.
  • Choose a most recent iCloud backup from a list of available backup archives. The backup you choose should predate the deletion of the text messages.
  • Then wait for the whole process to end.
Restore Deleted iPhone Messages from iCloud Backup

In this way, your texts together with other data inside the backup will be restored to your iPhone. If you want to know what the iCloud backup contains in advance, try the Jihosoft iPhone Data Recovery for preview. Or you can use it to extract the messages you need from the iCloud backup.

Note: If you use Messages in iCloud activated on your iPhone, the text messages, iMessages as well as MMS will be automatically uploaded to iCloud and included in neither iTunes backup nor iCloud backup. In this case, you cannot retrieve your deleted iPhone text messages even if you have a backup. So keep Messages in iCloud off on your device and only turn it on when necessary. To be on the safe side, you can transfer text messages from iPhone to computer to create a separate backup for them.

Part 3. Ask Phone Service Provider to Recover Deleted iPhone Messages

Sometimes you have no backup available and can’t get back the iPhone texts even with a data recovery app. Then you can resort to contact your phone service provider for a try. Usually, they will keep a record of your SMS messages (not including iMessages). However, to protect the privacy of both sides participated in the conversation, the cell phone carrier will offer you these messages only when you obtain a court order. Moreover, some providers only keep the information for a few weeks. Therefore, if you lost important text messages, you’d better contact your cell phone carrier as soon as possible. Although this method is not as easy as you think, it is worth trying.

Final Words

This article is about iPhone text messages recovery, including how to recover deleted text messages on iPhone without backup and how to restore them from iTunes/iCloud backup. Though your text messages can be recovered from the iOS device directly with a third-party data recovery tool, the best way to avoid data loss is always to back up the data regularly.
